Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School has established an "eSports Career Experience Centre", introducing Logitech computer equipment to allow students to experience various roles in the eSports ecosystem, including pro gamers, commentators, and video post-production staff.

"Playing games definitely affects studies!" This was once a deeply ingrained belief among many parents. However, with the development of "eSports," people have begun to change their perceptions about "playing games." The younger generation is acquiring new skills by participating in "eSports" related activities, such as flight and driving simulations, live commentary, and video post-production. Recently, Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School established an "eSports Career Experience Centre," introducing various Logitech computer devices to allow students to get hands-on experience with different "eSports" activities.

Encouraging diverse student development and fostering positive values through "eSports"

Flying an airplane is a dream for many young people, and the "eSports Career Experience Centre" allows students to experience the joy of simulated flight. Principal Lau Chun Hung of Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School stated: "The school places great emphasis on diverse student development and established the 'Morning Star Academy' early on, organizing various activities to encourage students to pursue their dreams. The 'eSports Career Experience Centre' uses gaming as a starting point to help students learn various life skills." In addition to simulated flight games, the school also encourages students to participate in other aerospace training activities, such as "Caption Yu Chung People! Dream Flight" - a simulated flight competition, and "I want to fly! Aviation Experience Program" - visiting the aviation industry, thereby broadening their horizons and pursuing their future.

eSports has now become a professional sport, and pro gamers require rigorous training. Principal Lau stated: "The school established the eSports Career Experience Centre to build core values for students through various training activities, such as perseverance and not giving up easily when facing setbacks."

Vice Principal Man Ho Wai also stated: "The 'eSports Career Experience Centre' can be combined with other teaching resources to enhance students' learning interest and also serves as a good opportunity for career planning. Students can learn about the skills required for various roles and prepare themselves in advance."

Logitech equipment support to create an "eSports" ecosystem

The "eSports Career Experience Centre" introduced professional flight simulation equipment from Logitech G and the G923 TRUEFORCE racing wheel to provide students with a realistic flight and driving experience. When teaching flight principles, Combo Touch keyboard iPad cases and Crayon styluses are used, allowing students to draw airflow and other flight knowledge on their tablets anytime, anywhere. Brio 4K webcams, YETI professional USB microphones, K860 ergonomic split keyboards, and MX Vertical ergonomic mice are used to assist with commentary and video editing.

Mr. Kong Man Ki, STEM Curriculum Development Officer, stated: "STEM education has long been popular in the United States. This time, the school's establishment of the 'eSports Career Experience Centre' aims to integrate technology products with subjects, allowing students to truly apply what they learn. The school hopes to create an 'eSports' ecosystem atmosphere, introducing different experiences to students. They don't necessarily have to become pro gamers; they can also serve as live commentators or video post-production staff, so the school has also purchased relevant equipment." He added that the school had compared different technology product brands and found Logitech's equipment to be more mature, such as the realism of the simulation system and better posture for students using ergonomic keyboards and mice.

Before establishing the "eSports Career Experience Centre," the school had encouraged students to participate in "eSports" and related themed competitions. Mr. Li Chi Yip, who is responsible for eSports education, stated: "Students participated in an 'eSports' commentary competition where the organizers distributed 5 short videos, allowing students to try live commentary and post-production work. This allowed students to learn how to analyze footage, perform on the spot, and communicate as a team."

Simulated flight games to master flight procedures

Pilots need extensive aerospace knowledge and undergo lengthy training. The "eSports Career Experience Centre" uses professional flight simulation equipment from Logitech G to give students a realistic driving experience. The flight game control system comes with a throttle quadrant with a total of five axes, stainless steel elevator and aileron control levers, and 25 fully customizable buttons and switch positions. The school specifically invited aviation instructor Truman Chan, who believes: "Logitech G products are very close to current flight equipment, simulating the realism of aircraft takeoffs and landings. In reality, the cost of training a pilot is very high, and similar simulated aircraft training is often used to allow prospective pilots to practice complex flight procedures."

Secondary two student Law Wai Chun also uses a tablet to learn about flight. He stated that due to the limited space in the "eSports Career Experience Centre," these tools allow for immediate communication with aviation instructors to learn about airflow, angles, flight routes, and other flight knowledge.

Meanwhile, secondary one student Tse Man Ho and secondary two student Mo Ka Ho joined the racing team. Tse Man Ho stated: "Playing racing games deepened my understanding of car parts and mechanical engineering, such as the principles of 'steering wheels' and 'gearboxes'." Mo Ka Ho also pointed out that the professional racing wheel at the "eSports Career Experience Centre" can simulate a realistic driving experience.

"eSports" commentary and video production require professional hardware support

In addition to "eSports" players, commentators and video post-production specialists are also emerging roles. Secondary two students Lo Wai Kin

and Chu Ka Chun participated in a short video production competition, which helped them understand the joys and challenges of being an "eSports" commentator. Lo Wai Kin stated: "The most important thing is to coordinate with your partner to synchronize audio and video as much as possible, describing the live situation instantly." Chu Ka Chun also agreed: "The chemistry between 'eSports' commentators is very important. If they speak at the same time, there will be 'overlapping voices'."

Therefore, professional cameras and audio equipment are definitely great helpers for excellent "eSports" commentators. "eSports" commentators often use the "picture-in-picture" function to observe their commentary performance. The Brio camera features RightLight™ 3 technology, which automatically adjusts brightness, eliminating the need for additional fill lights even in dim environments. For audio, when multiple guests participate in commentary, poor audio reception often occurs. The YETI microphone can switch between different pickup patterns with just one click, achieving wide-range, clear audio. This microphone can also be connected to headphones for real-time monitoring of commentary performance.

In addition, video post-production is also a job that many students are interested in. As the school participates in more and more "eSports" competitions and activities, there is also a need to recruit students to edit highlight clips. Secondary two student Zhai Wei Long is responsible for video editing. He said: "I hope to work in video production in the future, so I need to learn editing skills. That's why I enrolled in the 'eSports class' to learn video editing. I find editing very interesting and will try to upload my work to online platforms first."
